Biography

Øystein Aarseth, a Norwegian musician, was born on March 22nd, 1968, and passed away on August 10th, 1993, under the stage name Euronymous. He played a pivotal role in the early Norwegian black metal scene, co-founding and being the sole constant member of the influential black metal band Mayhem from its inception in 1984 until his tragic demise in 1993.

Euronymous was also the founder and owner of the extreme metal record label Deathlike Silence Productions and the record shop Helvete. He professed to being a theistic Satanist and was infamous for making extreme misanthropic statements, which contributed to his enigmatic persona.
