Biography

Oscar Micheaux was a pioneering African-American filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter who made over 30 films between 1919 and 1948. He is notable for being the first African-American to produce a feature-length film, "The Homesteader" (1919),and the first to produce a sound feature-length film, "The Exile" (1931).
