Biography

Montreal-born artist Omari Newton is a multifaceted professional, exceling in various creative pursuits as an actor, writer, slam poet, and MC. His work has been showcased across diverse mediums, including television, film, stage, and radio. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of City of Vancouver funded Artist in Residence (Playwright) with urban ink productions.

Newton's stage work in Quebec has garnered him numerous accolades and favorable reviews. Some notable highlights from his career include a best supporting actor nomination for his role in the Centaur Theatre's production of Joe Penhal's "Blue Orange" (Christopher). This production went on to win the prestigious award for best English language production.

Newton is proud to be a graduate of Concordia University's Communication Studies program. As a writer, he has made significant contributions to the completion of his original Hip Hop theatre piece "Sal Capone: The Lamentable Tragedy of", which was successfully produced in both Montreal and Vancouver in 2013.
