Olivier Marchal, a multifaceted individual, embarked on a journey of acting lessons while still serving as a police officer, demonstrating his versatility and passion for the craft.

He initially broke into the television industry by securing supporting roles and contributing to the writing of scripts for detective TV series, showcasing his talent and dedication.

In 1989, when Yves Rénier revived his iconic TV series Commissaire Moulin, which originally premiered in 1976, Marchal joined forces with Rénier as a scriptwriter, series supervisor, and occasional actor, solidifying his position in the television world.

Fast-forward to 2000, Marchal took on the starring role of Commandant Pierre Rivière in his own TV series, Police district, which was penned by renowned novelist Hugues Pagan, a former police officer himself. This endeavor marked a significant milestone in Marchal's career, as he not only showcased his acting prowess but also demonstrated his ability to create compelling narratives.
