Michael Roberts is a talented American producer and filmmaker who has made a significant impact in the industry. In 2012, he founded the production company Odd Man Out, which he currently runs alongside Australian filmmaker and actor Dustin Clare as Chief of North American distribution for Fighting Chance Films.
Roberts' film career began with his debut as a producer on Terry Gilliam's "The Legend of Hallowdega". He later gained recognition for his short film "Be The One", which won the prestigious Cannes Golden Lion Award for directing. In 2017, he received the KRF award for his film "A Fighting Season" for writing and direction, and the film was presented by the San Francisco Film Society and Ted Hope as his feature drama debut as writer/director.
Following the success of "A Fighting Season", Roberts went on to executive produce the international documentary "Antarctica: A Year On Ice" and the SXSW debut of "Grindadrap" starring Ross McCall from Band of Brothers. In 2019, he executive produced the official Sundance 2020 entry "The Killing of Two Lovers".
In addition to his feature credits, Roberts has earned numerous awards in the fields of cinematography and visual effects, including five Cannes Lions and the ASC recognition award for craft. He has also been featured on the Independent Film Channel's Film School, a nine-part television series, and is a regular contributor to the site No Film School.
