Nushrat Bharucha was born into a Dawoodi Bohra Muslim family, the offspring of Tanvir Bharucha and Tasneem Bharucha, in the vibrant city of Mumbai, India. Her journey in the world of acting began at the tender age of 16 in the year 2002. While still a student at Jai Hind college, Nushrat strolled into a talent management firm, initially seeking to volunteer as a scout, but fate had other plans. The firm, impressed by her enthusiasm, offered her a role in the television show Kittie Party (2002),broadcasted on Zee TV. However, the long working hours and poor treatment of newcomers led her to bid adieu to the show after a year.
During her college days, Nushrat actively participated in organizing events and the backstage production of plays. Her exceptional organizational skills were put to the test when she successfully managed to secure a leading facewash brand as a sponsor for a talent show in the year 2009. After a grueling five-day audition process, the brand announced that Nushrat had been selected as their 'Fresh Face', leading to her appearance in a few advertisements and a feature film.
Fast-forward to the year 2010, Nushrat received a call from the esteemed casting director Atul Mongia's office, inviting her for an audition. This chance encounter marked the beginning of her career's major breakthrough, as it led to her selection for Dibakar Banerjee's thought-provoking film LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha (2010).
