Nikki M. James is a talented actress who has made a significant impact in the world of theater. Born and raised in New Jersey, she developed a passion for the performing arts at a young age. With the support of her parents, she began her professional career at the age of 13, appearing in commercials and voice-overs.
She then went on to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama. Her Broadway debut came in the form of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," followed by a leading role in "House of Flowers" for City Center's Encores! Series.
Nikki's impressive resume includes originating the role of Lorraine in the Broadway production of "All Shook Up," performing alongside Phylicia Rashad in Michael John La Chiusa's "Bernarda Alba" at Lincoln Center Theatre, and starring as Dorothy in "The Wiz" at the La Jolla Playhouse.
In 2008, she took on classical theater at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where she played Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" and starred opposite Christopher Plummer in Shaw's "Caesar and Cleopatra." Her other notable theater credits include the 2014 Broadway Revival of Les Miserables, Shakespeare in the Park productions of Julius Caesar and Twelfth Night, Dave Malloy's Preludes, and The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin.
In addition to her stage work, Nikki has performed at Carnegie Hall, NJPAC, and The Center for the Performing Arts, among others. She has also performed her solo cabaret show on land and sea.
