Neve Campbell was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to Marnie, a Dutch-born psychologist and yoga instructor from Amsterdam, and Gerry Campbell, a Scottish-born teacher from Glasgow.
As a young actress, Campbell first gained recognition for her role in the popular television drama series Party of Five, which premiered in 1994 and ran for six seasons. Her portrayal of the character was widely praised, with many considering her to be TV's most believable teenager.
Campbell's breakthrough film role came in 1996 with the release of Scream, a horror movie that redefined the slasher genre and cemented her status as a rising star. She played the role of Sidney Prescott, an innocent victim who finds herself at the center of a series of gruesome murders.
