Biography

Nelson Richard DeMille was born to Huron Flora DeMille and Antonia Panzera, and his life would be marked by a rich blend of military service, academic achievement, and literary success.

From 1966 to 1969, DeMille served in the United States Army, rising through the ranks to earn the esteemed title of First Lieutenant. A significant portion of his military career was spent during the tumultuous Vietnam War, specifically in the Quang Tri Province, where he served from November 1967 to December 1968.

For his bravery and dedication, DeMille was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Air Medal, testifying to his unwavering commitment to his country.

Upon his return to civilian life, DeMille pursued higher education, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from Hofstra University in 1970. His academic achievements were further recognized when he received the prestigious Estabrook Award from his alma mater.

DeMille's literary talents have been rewarded with the publication of over 10 best-selling novels, including "The Charm School", "The Cathedral", and "Up Country". His 1999 novel, "The General's Daughter", was adapted into a motion picture starring John Travolta, a testament to the enduring appeal of his work.

In his personal life, DeMille is married to Ginny DeMille and has two children, Lauren and Alexander.
