Neerja is a British actress who has achieved significant success in her career. After graduating from Cambridge University, she trained at Drama Centre London, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Her latest feature film, AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS, directed by Johnny Kevorkian, has earned her the prestigious award of Best Actress at the C-Fem Fantastic Film Festival Murcia in Spain. In this film, Neerja took on the lead role of Annji, showcasing her impressive acting skills.
Prior to this, Neerja appeared in SOLD, a Best of Festival pick at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where she played Anita, a survivor of trafficking, directed by Jeffrey Brown. Her portrayal of Anita earned her recognition and respect in the industry.
In HACKNEY'S FINEST, Neerja played the female lead Pari, an Afghan biker chick, directed by Chris Bouchard. Her performance was well-received, and she gained a reputation for her versatility as an actress.
Neerja has also appeared in the feature film LIFE GOES ON, alongside Bollywood veterans Om Puri and Sharmila Tagore, playing the role of Tuli Banerjee.
In television, Neerja has made guest appearances in the BBC's Casualty and Doctors, further expanding her portfolio.
On the stage, Neerja has received critical acclaim for her performance as Hermia in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, directed by Sir Trevor Nunn. This production was particularly notable as it marked the completion of Sir Trevor's directorial canon of all 37 of Shakespeare's plays, timed to coincide with the 400-year celebrations.
Neerja made her debut at Shakespeare's Globe, playing the title character of THE CAPTIVE QUEEN. She was also invited to join Peter Brook during his workshops for THE PRISONER at The National Theatre Studio and worked with Kathryn Hunter in the play UNTOUCHABLE, where she played the role of the freedom fighter Deorao.
