Nadira Murray is a renowned filmmaker, distinguished by her prestigious awards including the BAFTA Scotland, BFI & Chanel Filmmaker Award, and BIFA Breakthrough Producer. Based in Edinburgh, she is the founder of Sylph Productions, a company dedicated to amplifying the voices of first-generation immigrants and refugees/asylum seekers through cinematic storytelling, with the aim of fostering connections between the East and West.
Born into an artistic family, Nadira's parents were both accomplished theatre actors. She honed her craft at the Drama Studio in London, where she trained, and subsequently worked as an actress in various London theaters. However, it was behind the camera that Nadira discovered her true passion. In 2014, she embarked on a new career path, pursuing film production at the Media Business School in Spain, with support from Creative Europe Media. Her mission is to develop both scripted and unscripted narratives that celebrate ethnically diverse voices and bring cultures together through artistic expression.
Throughout her career, Nadira has participated in various esteemed programs, including the Rotterdam Producer's Lab in 2021 and 2023, as well as the BIFA Springboard program in 2023.
