Biography

William Munro Leaf, a renowned author, penned approximately thirty beloved books for children. His most iconic work, "The Story of Ferdinand", published in 1936, told the heartwarming tale of a Spanish bull who preferred to indulge in the sweet scent of flowers rather than engage in fierce battles in the ring.

This enchanting story, which has captivated readers worldwide, has been translated into an astonishing sixty-plus languages, including Twi, Ga, Fanti, and Ewe in Africa, to name a few.

William Munro Leaf's educational background was marked by a master's degree from Harvard University, earned after graduating from the University of Maryland. Prior to his illustrious career in publishing, Leaf spent several years teaching at a preparatory school.

He later served as editor and director of the esteemed New York publishing house, F. A. Stokes. Leaf's impressive tenure was punctuated by numerous trips abroad, where he functioned as a cultural representative for the US State Department, fostering international understanding and diplomacy.
