Morgan Freeman is a renowned American actor born on June 1, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mayme Edna Revere, a teacher, and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, a barber. He began his career on stage, winning several awards, including two Obie Awards and a Tony Award nomination. Freeman's breakthrough role came in 1987 when he played Hoke Coleburn in Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Driving Miss Daisy, earning his fourth Obie Award.

Freeman's film career took off in the 1980s, with notable roles in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, and Glory. He received Oscar nominations for his performances in Street Smart and Driving Miss Daisy.
