Montré Burton, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, is a talented individual of African-American and Cuban descent, raised by his grandparents, mother, and aunt, along with his five brothers and two sisters. Growing up, he was an active member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, where he would perform every Sunday. His passion for the arts was evident from a young age, as he joined The Hurrah Players Youth & Family Theatre Company and starred in various productions, including Pinnochio, Once Upon A Mattress, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.
As he grew older, Montré's talents extended beyond the stage. During middle school, he played the violin and became the third best player in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. In high school, he attended the Virginia Governor's School for the Arts, where he graduated with honors, concentrating in theatre, and starred in productions such as The Misanthrope, Anything Goes, Museum, and 42nd Street. His academic achievements continued at Old Dominion University, where he earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts, appearing in Angels in America, The Hairy Ape, and Juxtapose.
Montré's thirst for knowledge and experience led him to attend the Florida State University/British American Drama Academy in London, England, where he trained under renowned classical artist Norman Ayerton. Upon his return to the United States, he continued his education at the Playhouse West and the Gloria Gifford Conservatory for the Performing Arts, further honing his craft and inspiring young artists.
In 1998, Montré was diagnosed with benign central neurocytomas, a rare central nervous system tumor, and was given a prognosis of only two weeks to live if it was not immediately removed. However, Montré proved to be a true survivor, using his experience as motivation to push forward and achieve his dreams as an entertainer.
Montré's big break came with the highly anticipated summer series Disney's High School Musical: Get in the Picture, where he starred as a "Faculty" member, mentoring and guiding contestants. Prior to this, he had guest-starred on HBO's Entourage, My TV Network's Wicked Wicked Games, and FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He has also appeared in national commercials for Dominos, Chrysler, Snapple, Burger King, McDonald's, ABC, and E! Entertainment Television.
Today, Montré resides in Los Angeles, where he enjoys traveling the world and has recently formed his own production company, Oakmont North Productions, named after his childhood neighborhood.
