Biography

Mitchell Ryan, a renowned American character actor, was born in Cincinnati and raised in Louisville. His journey in the world of acting began when he joined the Navy at the age of 17 in 1951 and was assigned to the Special Services Entertainment unit, where he discovered his passion for acting. After completing his term in the Navy, Ryan went on to appear in numerous plays, eventually landing a regular role in the popular television series Dark Shadows in 1966.

Throughout the 1970s, Ryan continued to establish himself as a talented supporting actor in both film and television. He appeared in notable movies such as Monte Walsh (1970),Magnum Force (1973),and High Plains Drifter (1973),directed by Clint Eastwood. Ryan's work in television during this period included recurring guest roles in Having Babies (1978),Executive Suite (1976),The Chisholms (1979),and All My Children (1970),as well as a growing list of television films and guest appearances.

One of Ryan's most iconic roles was as the villain in the action-packed film Lethal Weapon (1987),starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. In the following years, he continued to take on supporting roles in various films, including Judge Dredd (1995),Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995),Liar Liar (1997),and The Devil's Own (1997),opposite Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt.
