Mitch Morris was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent his formative years in Portland, a suburb that nurtured his growth and development. After graduating from Gregory-Portland High School in 1998, Morris's passion for music led him to be offered a prestigious music scholarship to the University of North Texas. However, he chose to pursue a different path, opting to study Radio, Television, and Film instead. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge, a testament to his dedication and perseverance.
Following his academic pursuits, Morris made his way to Los Angeles, where he began his career in the entertainment industry. He started with a commercial for American Eagle Outfitters, before landing guest appearances on popular TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER, and Presidio Med. In 2003, he made his stage debut in the LA revival of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Summertree, a milestone that marked the beginning of his successful career in the performing arts.
Throughout his career, Morris has been unapologetically open about his sexuality, playing several gay roles in films and television shows. One of his most notable roles was as Cody Bell, the leader of the "pink posse" on Showtime's Queer as Folk. He has also appeared in the sex-comedy Another Gay Movie (2006) and played the role of Ken Watkins, a CIA tech genius, on Jerry Bruckheimer's E-Ring. Additionally, he starred in the police drama Honor (2006) and ended his acting career with the short film "Up One Night" (2009).
After retiring from acting, Morris went on to earn a law degree and practiced as a lawyer for a short time in California. He then attended Sarah Lawrence College, where he earned an MFA in creative writing. Morris has since become a successful writer and professor, teaching at Purchase College. He currently resides in New York City, where he continues to pursue his passion for writing and education.
