Born in 1977 in Mie, Japan, a talented individual began their journey in the world of arts. After graduating from the Osaka University of Arts' prestigious Visual Concept Planning Department, they embarked on a career as a screenwriter under the guidance of renowned film director Nobuhiko Oobayashi, known for his work on the critically acclaimed film "House".
As their skills and expertise grew, they transitioned to directing, and their third short film, "Eye", won a prize at the esteemed Short Shorts Film Festival in 2002. Their subsequent short film, "Grandmother", received the grand prize in the Digital Shorts category at the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival, further solidifying their reputation as a talented filmmaker.
In 2005, they penned their first feature-length screenplay, "The Sakai's Happiness", which went on to win the coveted Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Award. The following year, they brought this screenplay to life, directing their first feature-length film, "The Sakai's Happiness". This marked the beginning of a successful career in feature filmmaking.
Fast forward to 2010, they wrote and directed "Here Comes the Bride, My Mom!", which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and took home the grand prize for the Kaneto Shindo Awards, a prestigious honor bestowed upon promising directors by a committee of Japanese producers.
Their most recent film, "You Are a Good Kid", marks a new chapter in their career, as they re-team with the producer and screenwriter of "The Light Shines Only There". The film is set to be released in 2015.
In addition to their work in film, they also write and direct commercials and episodes for television, further demonstrating their versatility and range as a creative force.
