Mikko, a Finnish-British writer/director based in London, has gained recognition as one of the 25 LGBTQ Filmmakers on the Rise in 2019, according to IndieWire.
His feature directorial debut, A Moment in the Reeds, premiered in 2017 and has since been showcased at over 80 film festivals worldwide, including prestigious events such as the BFI London Film Festival, Göteborg Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and Frameline.
The film received numerous accolades, including a nomination for The Discovery Award at the British Independent Film Awards and two Finnish Jussi awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.
Mikko's journey as a filmmaker began when he relocated from his native Finland to the UK for university, where he pursued a dual degree in English and French literature at The University of Nottingham and University College London.
Before making his feature debut, Mikko honed his skills by directing music and fashion promos, while also working as an editor in drama and commercials.
