Mike's journey in writing began long before he returned to college after eight years of serving in the Air Force. During his time in the military, he worked under the head writer for the popular television series, Route 66, which instilled in him a deep appreciation and love for screenwriting as a viable art form.
After completing his education at San Diego State University, Mike studied under renowned stage director and producer, Paul Gregory, and Norman Corwin, the Dean of American Radio Drama. This exposure further honed his skills and passion for writing.
Mike's personal life was also thriving, as he was married to Kendall McLain, a talented British actress who had appeared in numerous award-winning productions at the Old Globe in San Diego and Orange County Rep. Together, they relocated to Hollywood, where Mike's writing career took off.
He landed his first job on a sitcom pilot and eventually secured his dream position as a writer for the popular television series, Hart to Hart. Around the same time, he met James McAdams, a long-time producer at Universal, who mentored Mike in the art of producing.
Mike worked with McAdams on several series and made-for-television movies until McAdams relocated to New York. Mike then joined the team of Airwolf, serving as the Associate Producer for the entire run of the show.
After the "high-tech" series boom passed, Mike continued to work as a writer, director, and assistant director, until he discovered the fast-paced and immediate world of reality television. He has since worked on a variety of shows and genres, both as a field director and field producer.
Throughout his career, Mike has developed a deep friendship and respect for the talented director, Harry Bromley-Davenport. Together, they have collaborated on several films and continue to create "small little personal" movies to this day.
Mike is a devoted father to his two children, Riley and Mason, from his second marriage to Diana. While writing and filmmaking will always be his passion, his children are his greatest loves.
