Mike Aransky's journey to becoming a film director was unexpected, yet serendipitous. While making amateur movies with friends using his grandfather's videocamera on a cold weekend, he never imagined that it would evolve into a career. It wasn't until he shared his short film with his high school drama class that his late professor Edward Feeney asked him if he wanted to pursue filmmaking as a profession.
With hesitation, Mike replied "yeah, sure," and at that moment, his path was set. His professor's words of wisdom, "Never give up doing it and never let anyone stop you from fulfilling your dreams," have become his guiding motto.
Fast forward ten years, Mike's dream has come true, and he continues to make award-winning feature films on shoestring budgets with his partners Tom and Phil. The trio met while working at a fast food restaurant after being fired from a movie theater. Mike has also had the opportunity to work with major production companies such as ESPN, CBS, and ABC.
As he begins to reach the peak of his performance, Mike and his fellow directors have created their most ambitious project yet, The Land of College Prophets, a massive undertaking that has led to the formation of The Halemanor Collective.
From editing movies with two old VHS VCRs and a boom box to the latest hybrid video technology and film, Mike has taken audiences on new journeys to undiscovered worlds and complex, fascinating characters. Storytelling and engaging his audience is Mike's passion, and he hopes to bring that love to the screen for many years to come. For Mike, directing is not just a job, but a love.
