Miguel Monteiro embarked on his professional journey as a journalist in 1984, marking the beginning of a remarkable career that would span decades.
Four years later, in 1988, he was part of a pioneering team that established the first private radio station in Portugal, TSF. His outstanding work in the radio industry earned him numerous awards, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication.
Building on his success, Monteiro went on to become a founding member of the first private television station in Portugal, SIC, in 1992. This milestone further solidified his reputation as a trailblazer in the Portuguese media landscape.
Monteiro made history as the first Portuguese journalist to cover the Academy Awards, reporting on this prestigious event for both radio and television for a significant portion of the 1990s. His coverage of other notable events includes the 80th Birthday Salute to Frank Sinatra in Los Angeles, multiple Spirit Awards shows in Santa Monica, and movie junkets across Europe.
Beyond his work in television and radio, Monteiro also ventured into the world of acting, appearing in films and television shows. He was an active member of the Board of the Portuguese Film Academy, a founding member of the Leffest film festival in Lisbon, and a juror at several prominent film festivals, including Caminhos do Cinema Português and Festin.
