Mickey Solis is a multi-talented individual, hailing from a small farm in Michigan where he was raised by his aunt and grandparents. From a young age, Solis was captivated by the world of film and television, and his passion only grew stronger as he delved deeper into the craft.
As a teenager, Solis began his journey as a stage actor, performing locally and honing his skills. He later pursued a degree in religious studies, drama history, script analysis, and performance training at Western Michigan University.
In 2003, Solis made the bold decision to relocate to Massachusetts, where he enrolled in the prestigious Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. It was during this time that he began to make a name for himself as a stage actor, starring in five seasons of plays at the American Repertory Theater under the guidance of renowned directors such as Robert Woodruff, Anne Bogart, Les Water, and Mark Wing-Davey.
Following his time at the American Repertory Theater, Solis made the move to New York City, where he continued to work as a professional actor in film, television, commercials, and regional theaters across America. It was during this period that he was mentored by the acclaimed filmmaker and theater director Janos Szasz, who encouraged Solis to pursue his passion for screenwriting.
In 2010, Solis wrote and optioned his first screenplay, a dramatic thriller titled Michigan, which tells the story of a mysterious string of suicides in a small Midwestern town. Over the following decade, Solis went on to author numerous original feature scripts and television pilots, as well as write and co-write short films that premiered at festivals in NYC.
One of Solis' most notable projects to date is the feature-length action thriller Rogue Hostage, which was shot in 2020 and stars John Malkovich, Tyrese Gibson, and Michael Jai White. The film was produced by Yale Entertainment and premiered in June of 2021.
