Michael Zorek was born on May 25, 1960, in the vibrant city of New York, to Warren and Jane Zorek. Growing up in Manhattan, he shared a sibling bond with a sister two years his senior, attending PS 6 and Riverdale Country School in the Bronx. His alma mater, Riverdale, was also the institution where he befriended notable individuals like David Yazbek and Keith Levenson, graduating in 1978.
Following his academic pursuits, Michael pursued a degree in Drama at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where he had the opportunity to share a similar academic path with future renowned actress Allison Janney. Upon graduating in 1982, he embarked on a unique profession, delivering singing telegrams in New York City before making the bold move to Los Angeles in the fall of the same year.
Just three weeks after settling into his new LA life, Michael auditioned for and secured the role of Bubba Beauregard in the 1983 film "Private School". This marked the beginning of his journey in the film and television industry, with numerous roles and appearances following suit. However, his acting career slowed down in the mid-1980s.
To make ends meet, Michael took on various jobs, including stints at Music Plus, Ed Debevic's, and The Virgin Megastore. In 1995, he made the decision to relocate back to New York City, where he found employment at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square.
In 1998, Michael joined a Public Relations firm, where he met his future wife, Shelly Friedland, in September 2000. The couple welcomed their son, Jeremy, in March 2002, and just three months later, Michael took on the role of a stay-at-home father.
Their family expanded in March 2006 with the arrival of their daughter, Diana. Both children have pursued modeling careers, with Jeremy also showing a budding interest in acting. Michael occasionally auditions for roles through his son's manager, Ingrid French.
