Biography

Michael Toland's remarkable career in the arts has been marked by a diverse array of pursuits. His early training, courtesy of his uncle Truman, a chief illustrator for Disney, earned him a scholarship to the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City. This artistic foundation allowed him to explore his passion for music, which led him to found the band "Aloft" with his bandmates, naming it after the loft they shared in SOHO, New York City.

Under the management of John Cher, "Aloft" achieved a certain level of success, opening for the renowned Jeff Beck. However, Michael eventually decided that the rock and roll lifestyle was not for him, opting instead to focus on session guitar work and jingle singing in New York City. This path ultimately led him to the world of advertising, where he worked with various agencies, and eventually, to acting in television commercials.

As he became more intrigued by the craft, Michael began to study acting in earnest, under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Uta Hagen, Warren Robertson, and Joanna Merlin. His hard work paid off, as he secured numerous guest starring roles on popular television shows, followed by a series regular spot on HBO's inaugural series, "1st and 10," which prompted his relocation to Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, Michael continued to hone his craft, studying with the renowned Bill Esper. He has also maintained his music career, composing and producing music for film and television, while juggling his various pursuits with ease.
