Michael Smallwood is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as an actor, writer, director, and teacher.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Michael has since made Charleston, South Carolina his home.

His educational background is a testament to his dedication to the arts, having graduated from the College of Charleston and gone on to study theatre, acting, and writing at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the esteemed Horizon Theatre Company in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a core ensemble member of PURE Theatre in Charleston, Michael has been an integral part of the company since 2011, bringing his talents to the stage in numerous productions.

His impressive theatre credits include standout performances in The Agitators, The Royale, Marie Antoinette, and The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, among many others.

A two-time winner of the KCACTF award for his outstanding work as a playwright, Michael's talents extend far beyond the stage, making him a true triple threat in the world of the performing arts.
