Biography

Michael Kiu Wai Miu was born on June 18, 1958, in Ningbo, China, a small town situated outside of Shanghai. At the tender age of six, Miu and his mother made the significant decision to migrate to Hong Kong, where he would spend the majority of his formative years. Following his high school graduation, Miu catapulted to fame, becoming one of the most popular young Asian actors of the 1980s.

Miu's journey to stardom was marked by his training at the prestigious TVB Development Program for Performing Arts, where he had the privilege of learning alongside esteemed colleagues such as Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Felix Wong, and Kent Tong. This talented group of individuals would later become known as "The Five Tigers." Miu's impressive rise to stardom began in 1983, when he took on the lead role in the iconic Hong Kong television drama, The Legend of the Condor Heroes (1983).

After taking a decade-long hiatus in the 1990s, Miu made a triumphant return to the entertainment industry, solidifying his status as a household name in Hong Kong, China, and the Asia-Pacific region. His work in recent years has been met with widespread acclaim, with notable roles in films such as The White Storm 2: Drug Lords (2019),opposite Andy Lau, and the hit television shows Line Walker: Bull Fight (2020) and Flying Tiger (2018).

Miu has been married to actress Jaime Mei-Chun Chik since 1990, and the couple is blessed with two children, Murphy Miu and actress Phoebe Miu.
