Michael McKell's life took a dramatic turn in the 1980s when he was a renowned singer, songwriter, and recording artist in London, specifically in Bethnal Green, where he was born.

However, a life-altering event occurred in 1991, when he was involved in a near-fatal car crash that served as a catalyst for a profound career shift.

In the aftermath of this traumatic experience, McKell dedicated himself to the study of acting for a period of three years at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Institute.

He subsequently transitioned to the stage, where he showcased his talents by producing and starring in a production of Macbeth at the esteemed Lyric Hammersmith.

McKell's West End debut was marked by his impressive performance in the musical Blood Brothers.

Throughout his career, he has appeared in numerous television roles, often portraying villains, before landing leading roles in police series such as Murder Investigation Team, Blessed by Ben Elton, and as one of the titular Doctors in the popular weekday afternoon soap.

His outstanding performance in the latter earned him the Royal National TV Society award for Best Actor.
