Michael Johnston is a multi-talented individual who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as an actor, voice actor, and singer-songwriter. Growing up in rural North Carolina, Michael's passion for voiceover work began when he brought characters to life in his self-made 2D animations and games.
After studying at The Second City in Chicago, Michael moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18 to pursue his on-camera career. His breakthrough role came when he landed a co-star role on MTV's Awkward in 2011, which led to a recurring regular role on MTV's hit series Teen Wolf in the same year.
Michael's television credits include Pure Genius in 2016, Supergirl in 2015, The InBetween in 2019, and S.W.A.T. in 2017. On the film side, he starred in the indie feature Slash in 2016, which premiered at SXSW, and played opposite Hannah Marks, Michael Ian Black, and Missi Pyle.
In addition to his on-camera work, Michael made his stage debut in 2023 as Jonny in Berkeley Repertory Theater's "Let The Right One In," directed by two-time Tony and Oliver Award-winning director John Tiffany alongside Oliver Award-winning movement director Steven Hoggett.
As a voice actor, Michael has lent his voice to several projects, including Annapurna Interactive's The Artful Escape in 2021, which won a BAFTA Games Award, and Netflix's animated series Zak Storm in 2016. He also provided his voice and motion capture performance for Marvel's Avengers in 2020.
Michael's recent work includes starring in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in 2023, based on the iconic 1974 horror film, and providing his voice for anime dubs. He voiced a recurring role in the critically acclaimed series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in 2019 and can be heard as the protagonist of Netflix's Akuma Kun in 2023.
In addition to his voice work, Michael has also pursued his passion for singing. He recently lent his voice to Well-Versed in 2023, an animated series from First Lady Jill Biden that teaches children about civics in short-form music videos. A vocal tenor with an emphasis on singer-songwriter pop, Michael plays acoustic guitar and released his first music video, Michael Johnston: Gravity, in 2024.
