Biography

Michael J. Fox, born Michael Andrew Fox on June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Phyllis Fox (née Piper),a payroll clerk, and William Fox, began his life journey.

His parents, having relocated their family, including Michael, his three sisters, Kelli Fox, Karen, and Jacki, and his brother Steven, to Vancouver, British Columbia, after his father's retirement from the Canadian Army Signal Corps. This marked a pivotal moment in Michael's life, as he developed an early passion for acting.

At the tender age of 15, Michael successfully auditioned for the role of a 10-year-old in the series Leo and Me (1978),garnering attention as a bright new star in Canadian television and movies. His stage debut in "The Shadow Box" further solidified his love for acting.

With a newfound sense of purpose, Michael made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles at the age of 18. However, his initial success was short-lived, and he found himself struggling to find consistent work, relying on boxes of macaroni and cheese to survive.

But fate had other plans, as his agent called to inform him that he had landed the role of Alex P. Keaton in the situation comedy Family Ties (1982). This breakthrough role catapulted him to stardom, and he went on to star in the feature films Teen Wolf (1985),High School U.S.A. (1983),Poison Ivy (1985),and Back to the Future (1985).
