Michael C. Hall was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Janice Styons, a guidance counselor, and William Carlyle Hall, an IBM employee. He is a proud alumnus of New York University's esteemed Master of Fine Arts program in acting.
Hall is renowned for his iconic portrayals of characters, including the titular role in the hit television series "Dexter" (2006) and the mortician David Fisher in the critically acclaimed television series "Six Feet Under" (2001).
In addition to his notable television work, Hall has had a successful career on Broadway, with recent performances including the role of Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". His extensive Broadway credits also include stints as the emcee in "Cabaret", Billy Flynn in "Chicago", and John Jones in "The Realistic Joneses".
A prolific performer, Hall has appeared in nearly a dozen major off-Broadway productions, including "Macbeth" for the New York Shakespeare Festival, "Cymbeline" for the New York Shakespeare Festival at Central Park's Delacorte Theater, "Timon of Athens" and "Henry V" at the Public, "The English Teachers" for Manhattan Class Company, "Corpus Christi" at the Manhattan Theatre Club, "Mr. Marmalade" with the Roundabout Theatre Company, and "Skylight" at the Mark Taper Forum.
In addition to his stage work, Hall has also made a name for himself in independent motion pictures, with notable roles in films such as "Cold in July" (2014) and "Kill Your Darlings" (2013).
