Mercy Baron, a talented individual with a multifaceted career, was born in Queens, New York. Her father, a jazz musician, and her mother, a sculptor, relocated to Los Angeles when she was young, giving her a strong sense of belonging as a native Californian.
Baron's early life was marked by a passion for dance, studying ballet and modern dance with renowned instructors Juliet Prowse and Jon Zerby, father of actress Kim Darby. However, she eventually shifted her focus to music, becoming a classical percussionist and playing in school and community orchestras. She also pursued a career as a drummer and vocalist in rock bands.
Growing up, Baron was fortunate to be surrounded by talented individuals, including Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne's late guitarist, who taught her drum lessons at his mother's music school in North Hollywood. She also had a brief romantic relationship with Jeff Porcaro, the late drummer for TOTO, while attending Grant High School in Van Nuys.
Baron's music career took her on tour across the country, where she performed alongside notable acts. She also wrote lyrics for Sergio Mendes and contributed to various studio projects. In addition to her music pursuits, she earned a degree in anthropology from California State University-Northridge and worked as a professional archaeologist in Southern California for many years.
In the mid-1990s, Baron reinvented herself as a plus-size model, working extensively around the world. This led her to return to acting, a field she had briefly explored as a student at Madison Jr. High in North Hollywood. She won Shakespeare Festival awards and landed roles in school plays, as well as performing in local Hollywood theater productions.
Baron's acting career gained momentum with her first film audition, which landed her a supporting role in the feature film "Living the Dream" (2006) alongside Sean Young and Danny Trejo. She has since booked roles in several other feature films and appeared as a witness in the re-enactment segment of "The Michael Jackson Trial" (2005) on E! Channel. Her most recent project is the indie feature "Peidmont Financial" (2006),which marks her biggest role to date.
