Melanie attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she received the prestigious Vanburgh Award. Her impressive stage repertoire includes performances in notable productions such as "Women Beware Women" at the Royal Court, "Under MilkWood", "Selfish Shellfish", "Twelfth Night", "Deathtrap", "Dirty Linen", "Breezeblock Park", "Who Killed Hilda Murrell?", "Fire in the Lake", and the stage adaptation of "Bread" in 1986. Melanie is perhaps most famously known for her portrayal of Aveline in the popular British television series "Bread" in 1986. Her extensive television credits also include appearances in "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" in 1983, where she played the role of Hazel, as well as roles in "Juliet Bravo" in 1980, "The Bill" in 1984, "A Night on the Tyne" in 1989, and "Boon" in 1986.
