Matt Ember is a seasoned writer and producer with an impressive track record spanning over fifteen years in the sitcom industry. During this period, he successfully navigated the landscape of popular television shows, including the critically acclaimed programs Step by Step, Grace Under Fire, The Drew Carey Show, The Norm Show, Titus, and Becker.
Following his extensive experience in sitcoms, Ember teamed up with fellow industry veteran Tom J. Astle to co-write a string of successful feature films. This collaborative effort yielded five number one features, including Failure to Launch (2006),Get Smart (2008),Epic (2013),Home (2015),and The War with Grandpa (2020).
After taking a brief hiatus from television, Ember returned to the small screen in 2018, serving as a consultant on the popular ABC series The Conners for three consecutive seasons.
Currently, Ember is re-teaming with Astle to pen the long-awaited sequel to Home, which is slated for release on Netflix in the near future.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Ember has also shared his expertise with aspiring writers and producers through private lessons and teaching positions at various institutions. These include Wesleyan University, NYU, AFI, SUNY Purchase, and Stage 32 online. He is currently a faculty member at Fairfield University and holds the esteemed position of Screenwriter in Residence at Long Island University.
