From his early days as a regular cast member on popular shows such as Coronation Street, Soldier Soldier, Family Affairs, Bramwell, and The Bill, Martin has continued to impress audiences with his versatility and talent.
In addition to his numerous television appearances, Martin has also made memorable guest appearances in a range of notable shows, including Waking the Dead, My Family, The Katherine Tate Show, Class of 76, Holby City, The Gill Mayo Murders, Hotel Babylon, Max And Paddies Road To Nowhere, Rose And Maloney, The Grid, Grass, and Midsomer Murders.

In 1979, he won the title of Heavyweight Boxing Champion of London and was subsequently drafted into the Olympic squad to box for his country. In his spare time, Martin is an accomplished musician and comedian. He has toured as the lead singer in a blues band for 15 years and has also survived on the stand-up comedy circuit for three years.
