Biography

Mark Zastrow was born with a congenital hearing deficiency, specifically in the mid-frequency range, which is where most human voices tend to project. Despite this, he received exceptional care from two dedicated speech therapists who guided him towards developing his communication skills. As a result, Mark was eventually able to articulate himself in a way that was largely indistinguishable from his elementary school peers.

Mark's academic pursuits took him to the realm of advertising, where he was tasked with co-presenting a campaign for a prospective client. Initially, he was apprehensive about speaking in front of large groups, but he pushed past his fears and accepted the challenge. This experience proved to be a transformative one, marking a turning point in his journey towards self-empowerment.

During his time in Wilmington, North Carolina, Mark worked as a part-time music video director, taking on projects that allowed him to hone his skills behind the camera. One of his most notable endeavors was directing a short film entitled 'Interstate,' in which he also took on the lead role. The film went on to make a splash at the 1st annual Cucalorus film festival, attracting attention from industry professionals and opening up new opportunities for Mark.

This breakthrough led to an audition opportunity for the feature film 'Empire Records,' a project that would see Mark working both in front of and behind the camera. Throughout his career, Mark has continued to take on a wide range of roles, showcasing his versatility and adaptability as a performer and creative professional.

Mark's educational background is equally impressive, with advanced degrees in Psychology, Sociology/Gerontology, and Interdisciplinary Arts. These credentials have not only provided him with a solid foundation in his chosen fields but have also equipped him with a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of human behavior and the complexities of the human experience.
