Biography

Mark Mahon, a native of Cork City, Ireland, began his journey as a singer/songwriter at a young age, writing over forty songs, several of which were recorded.

As he grew older, Mark pursued his passion for acting, training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (L.A.M.D.A.) and successfully completing his acting examinations with distinction at the age of 18.

However, his life took a dramatic turn at the age of 22, when he was severely injured in an accident and spent several months in the hospital recovering. Left in a wheelchair for three years, Mark turned his focus to writing feature films, driven by his love for the industry and a desire to stay involved in his chosen career.

Despite being left with a permanent disability, Mark remained determined and went on to complete many scripts, an award-winning graphic novel, and an award-winning novel.

In 2005, he received the 'Best Screenplay Unproduced' Award at the International Action on Film Ceremony in Los Angeles for his work on "Freedom Within the Heart", a limited four-edition, full-color comic series.

Mark also founded his production company, Maron Pictures, which now has offices in Ireland and Los Angeles.

As he continued to pursue his passion for filmmaking, Mark decided to take matters into his own hands and direct his first feature, "Strength and Honour", starring Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones, and Richard Chamberlain.

The film was a huge success, taking over 24 wins and 36 nominations, as well as official selections from film festivals around the world, including prestigious non-competitive festivals such as Cairo, Cambridge, Portugal, Moscow, Rome, Seville, and Shanghai.

In 2007, Mark made the cover of the April edition of "Hollywood Scriptwriter" and was honored by the Action on Film Awards by having the "Mark Mahon Award of Excellence in Writing" named after him.

Mark's success continued to grow, with "Strength and Honour" being selected by the Beijing Olympics Committee for their Sports Film Screening Week in 2008, and later, the film was selected to screen at the Writers Guild of America and received a review in the Los Angeles Times that described it as "another Slumdog Millionaire".

The film's success led to appearances on the TODAY show in New York, and on March 17th, 2010, Mark Mahon and the film's main cast were invited by Prince Albert of Monaco to a Royal screening at the Palace of Monaco for the Royal family.

Today, Mark is a member of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland and the Irish Film and Television Academy, and is planning his next feature, "Freedom Within the Heart".
