Marina de Van, a talented and multifaceted individual, was born in France in 1971, with a father who was a renowned musicologist. She began her academic journey at the prestigious Lycée Henri IV, where she honed her intellectual skills before transitioning to the esteemed Sorbonne University to pursue a degree in philosophy.
Following her philosophical pursuits, de Van enrolled at the FEMIS, the French school for cinematic studies, in 1993. Her time at FEMIS proved to be a transformative experience, as she graduated in 1996 with a wealth of knowledge and skills in filmmaking. During her tenure at FEMIS, de Van directed and wrote six short films, simultaneously exploring her creative potential as an actress and writer alongside her fellow student and future collaborator, François Ozon.
The culmination of her hard work and dedication came in 2002, when de Van made her feature film debut with "In My Skin," a film that showcased her impressive range as a director, writer, and actress.
