Mariela Hill, a remarkable Afro-Latina from Ibarra, Ecuador, embarked on a journey that would transform her life and career. As a young girl, Mariela's first language was Spanish, and she entered first grade with a significant challenge: learning to speak, read, and write English. Her initial shyness and reluctance to communicate made it difficult for her parents and teacher to coax her out of her shell.
Desperate to help Mariela overcome her social anxiety, her parents and teacher decided to enroll her in theatre and dance classes. This pivotal decision marked the beginning of a remarkable journey, as Mariela discovered her passion and talent for the performing arts.
At the tender age of nine, Mariela landed her first lead role in musical the "A Little Princess," and since then, she has been involved in over twenty productions. This early success not only boosted her confidence but also set her on a path that would lead her to a lifelong career in the entertainment industry.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre and Master's degree in Elementary Education at the University of New Hampshire, Mariela moved to Washington, DC, and began teaching early childhood and elementary school for six years. Her passion for education and dedication to making a positive impact on her students' lives led her to develop innovative teaching methods and create opportunities for her students to explore their creative potential.
Mariela's commitment to her students extended beyond the classroom, as she worked tirelessly to provide their parents with valuable resources and support. Her efforts aimed to empower parents to take an active role in their child's education, fostering a collaborative environment that would benefit the entire family.
In 2012, Mariela made the bold decision to transition to a full-time acting career, exploring various mediums such as film, television, commercials, voice overs, industrials, and print. Since then, she has been working relentlessly to hone her craft, taking on diverse roles and projects that showcase her remarkable talent and versatility.
