Biography

Marie Trintignant, a talented actress, met an untimely demise on August 1st, 2003, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris, France, due to a cerebral edema, which was a tragic consequence of a violent altercation with her boyfriend, Bertrand Cantat, the lead singer of the renowned French rock band Noir Désir. At the time of her passing, she was in the midst of completing a television movie about the life of Colette, directed by her mother.

Born into the world of show business, Marie Trintignant made her first screen appearance at the tender age of four. However, it was her role in the 1979 film "Série noire" that marked her breakthrough in the industry. Her first leading role came in 1990 with the film "Une nuit d'été en ville," and she continued to impress audiences with her performances, including her portrayal of "Betty," a bourgeois alcoholic, in 1992.

In addition to her work in film, Marie Trintignant also had a successful career in theater, with notable roles in productions such as "Le Retour," a play written by Harold Pinter.

Tragically, Marie Trintignant's final film, "Janis et John," was completed just three months prior to her untimely death.
