Marcel Walz, a renowned German-born director, currently resides in Los Angeles, California, with his husband. As a lifelong aficionado of horror films, he began his directing career while attending film school in Spain at the tender age of seventeen. This early start allowed him to hone his craft and eventually work extensively in the horror genre.
Walz's feature film debut, Blood Feast, a remake of the classic Herschell Gordon Lewis film, garnered international recognition, including a prestigious invitation to London Fright Fest. Since relocating to California, he has directed seven feature films, starting with the critically acclaimed Rootwood, which seamlessly blended found footage and cinematic shots.
The director's subsequent film, Blind, a drama/thriller, earned multiple best feature awards and spawned a sequel, Pretty Boy, which is set to be released by Lionsgate. Walz then took the bold step of establishing his own production company, allowing him to oversee every aspect of his projects.
The company's inaugural film, the meta horror comedy That's a Wrap, received widespread critical acclaim upon its release by Quiver in North America. The forthcoming film, Garden of Eden, is already generating buzz and is expected to be a cult classic.
In addition to his work in film, Walz also directed segments for four episodes of the popular television show Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. His unique blend of horror and beauty, born from his dual passions, sets him apart as a distinctive voice in the film industry.
