His impressive body of work includes the critically acclaimed films The Well-Digger's Daughter, released in 1940, Jean de Florette, which premiered in 1986, and Ugolin, a 1952 production. Throughout his life, Pagnol was blessed with the love and companionship of two remarkable women, Jacqueline Pagnol and Simone Collin, whom he married.
