Marc Hockl's biography:
Marc Hockl was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to parents who were immigrants themselves. His father hails from Romania, while his mother comes from Yugoslavia. After graduating from Oak Hills High School in 1984, Marc went on to become an Eagle Scout that same year.
Marc's military career began in 1985 when he joined the US Air Force, where he spent the next 21 years serving his country. During his time in the military, Marc worked primarily in the Emergency Room and held the positions of Independent Duty Medic and SWAT Medic. He saw active duty in several deployments, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, the United Nations Former Yugoslavia in 1993-1994, Anti-Narcotics South America in 2001, Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004-2005.
After retiring from the military in 2006, Marc pursued his education. He earned an Associate's degree in Landscape Horticulture from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in 2011, followed by an Associate's degree in Science in 2012. Marc then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Science Environmental Studies from the University of Cincinnati in 2014.
Currently, Marc is working towards his Master's degree in Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene at the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine. In addition to his academic pursuits, Marc is passionate about growing food for food banks and beekeeping. He is also actively involved in researching bees and the American Chestnut, and is committed to supporting these efforts.
