Maralou Gray was born Maralou Daralene Beatty in Chicago, Illinois. She is a theater, film, and television actress, as well as an operatic lyric coloratura soprano singer. Born to a family of performers, Gray's parents were Darlene Gray, a solo ballet dancer, and Artur Beatty, a restaurateur. Although her parents were divorced, Gray was raised by her maternal grandparents, Dr. William O. Gray and Margaret Gray, who formally adopted her and renamed her Maralou Daralene Gray.

Gray began her musical training at the age of 7 and was soon performing on Christian radio programs and local events. At the age of 10, she began entertaining at military bases in San Diego, California, where her family had relocated after her father returned to practice medicine during World War II.

Gray's early career was marked by numerous performances, including a contract with MGM Studio, where she studied with vocal coach Arthur "Rosie" Rosenblum and composer Jimmy McHugh. She also appeared on live television shows, including "Armchair Detective" and "The Betty White Show," and won several beauty titles, including "Miss Buick" and "La Sirena Del Puerto De Los Angeles."

In the 1950s, Gray toured Mexico, performing with orchestras and appearing in supper clubs. She also met with international movie star Mario Moreno, who negotiated a deal for her to appear in two future films. However, her mother's illness forced her to return to the United States, and she never fulfilled the contract.

Gray's acting career continued in the 1950s, with roles in films such as "Against All Flags" and "Pirates of Tripoli." She also appeared in several television shows, including "Death Valley Days" and "Secret File Hollywood." In 1954, she married James De Nicholas, a mortgage banker, and devoted herself to her family.

In the 1960s, Gray's interest in design led her to pursue a career in interior design. She founded Magnetic Interiors, Inc. and was inducted into the American Society of Interior Designers (A.S.I.D.) as a full professional member. In the 1970s, she founded National Special Event Locations, Inc. (NSEL),which provided private estates for corporate events, and National Film Locations, a photo library service for film location scouts.

Throughout her life, Gray has been involved in various charitable organizations and has donated her time and home to numerous causes. She continues to design and fabricate one-of-a-kind gemstone necklaces, which she finds relaxing. Gray's lifelong calling has been to contribute to the happiness of others, and she feels that her various efforts have allowed her to do so.
