Dorothy Lane Bolton, also known as Daniela Bianchi, was born in Vienna to a British oil company executive and a Russian-born pianist. She was raised in a family that valued the arts, and she began studying dance at a young age. Her family moved to America when she was a teenager, and she continued her education in New York and Montreal.
Before pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, Bianchi worked as a model for teenage fashion magazines. She was talent-scouted while working as a waitress and began appearing in films in the early 1950s. Her breakthrough role came in 1954 when she was signed by Howard Hughes for a small part in the comedy Susan Slept Here.
Bianchi went on to appear in a number of European films, including spy thrillers, films noir, romantic period comedies, and peplum. She worked with a number of notable actors, including Romy Schneider and Horst Buchholz. In 1961, she married San Antonio oil executive William Lafayette Dugger Jr., but the marriage ended in divorce just three years later.
After leaving the entertainment industry in 1964, Bianchi disappeared from the public eye. She died in 2014 at the age of 80.
