Marina Hara, better known as Horikita Maki, was born in the vibrant city of Tokyo in 1988, making her the eldest of three sisters. Growing up, she was a tomboy, often donning short hair, a trait that would remain a part of her identity even into adulthood. However, during her time in the entertainment industry, she was an attractive actress, model, and corporate product endorser, sporting longer locks between 2003 and 2017.
Throughout her career, Horikita Maki received numerous accolades, including the Newcomer Award at the Japan Academy Awards for her portrayal of a student boarder in Always: Sunset On Third Street. In the middle of 2016, Horikita Maki announced her pregnancy, and on December 2016, she gave birth to her child. Just a year later, on February 28, 2017, she announced her retirement from the entertainment industry, citing her desire to focus on her family and expressing gratitude to her fans for a "wonderful fourteen years."
