Mai Ezzidine's journey in the spotlight began at a tender age, as she was chosen to entertain the audience at nursery graduation parties and even led the theatrical group at EGC school in Alexandria. Her artistic inclinations were evident, as she enjoyed creating portraits, a trait inherited from her family, particularly her Uncle Raouf Nassry, a renowned caricature artist in the famous Egyptian magazine Sabah El Kheir and Rosal Youssef.
After graduating from the Faculty of Arts, Social Department, Mai took the initiative to pursue an acting career, despite her colleagues' skepticism. In 2001, she learned that the popular Egyptian singer Mohamed Fouad was seeking a fresh face to star alongside him in his project film Rehlet Hob, also known as A Love Journey. She asked her family friend, director Mounir Radi, to introduce her to the film's director, Mohamed El Nagar.
El Nagar was impressed by Mai's talent and beauty, and introduced her to Mohamed Fouad, who offered her her first leading role. Her second appearance was in the TV series Ayna Qalbi, also known as Where is My Heart, which catapulted her to fame.
The Sobki brothers, famous producers, took notice of her success and offered her a challenging role in their film, playing a poor, uneducated girl. Mai accepted the role, knowing that Abla Kamel and Mena Shalaby, with whom she had previously worked in Ayna Qalbi, would also be part of the cast.
As her name became synonymous with talent, Mai landed strings of roles, some of which were critically acclaimed. Director Magdy Abu Emeira, who discovered her, gave her another leading role in the TV series Al Haqiqa Wa Al Sarab, starring Fifi Abdu. Mai played the role of Manal, Fifi's daughter, to great acclaim.
Despite her success in TV series, Mai remained committed to the big screen, starring in two films that did not fare well. She appeared alongside Amer Mounib in Kimo Wa Antimo and then starred solo in Farah, which she considers one of her best roles.
In recent years, Mai has been busy with multiple TV series, including Ya Ward Meen Yeshtereek, Leqaa Ala Al Hawa, and Mahmoud El Masry. Although working on three sets simultaneously was exhausting, she couldn't resist the offer from the great star Samira Ahmed to join Ya Ward Meen Yeshtereek.
Today, Mai is more discerning in her role selection, seeking challenging characters regardless of the material gain. Her journey in the entertainment industry has been marked by perseverance, talent, and a passion for her craft.
