Madhoo was born on March 26th in the Malini household to Raghunath, the uncle of renowned Bollywood actress Hema Malini, and his wife Renuka. Her mother, Renuka, taught her the traditional Indian dance form Bharat Natyam from a young age. Unfortunately, Madhoo's life took a devastating turn when she lost her mother to cancer at the tender age of 13.
Despite this tragic loss, Madhoo found solace in her cousin, who became her role model, and she began to aspire to become an actress. After being offered a small role, she enrolled in Roshan Taneja's School of Acting for two months, only to be unceremoniously dropped from the program.
This setback, however, empowered Madhoo to take control of her life. She embarked on a journey of self-improvement, losing weight through jogging and swimming, getting braces for her teeth, cutting her hair, and undergoing a complete makeover, including clearing up her skin and perfecting her Hindi. The result was a new, improved, and sexy Madhoo.
Born under the zodiac sign of Aries, Madhoo's acting career began with the Malayalam film Ottayal Pattalam. She made her Bollywood debut in Phool Aur Kaante and gained overnight fame with her role in the 1992 Tamil movie Roja, which was dubbed in multiple languages. Her other notable releases include Diljale, Yeshwant, and Pehchaan.
Madhoo's acting career spanned over a decade, from 1990 to 2002, during which she appeared in approximately 30 movies in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu. She was signed to act in Kallol Sen's "Love Sex Etc" but later changed her mind.
In addition to her film career, Madhoo has also appeared in the TV show "Mann Main Hai Vishwas" on Sony Television. She married Anand Shah, a member of a wealthy industrialist family, and relocated to the United States, where she gave birth to two daughters, Ameya and Kela. Her daughter Ameya has already expressed her interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
