Mabel Campolongo Jaime, an Argentine actress professionally known as Mabel Karr, resided in Spain and was born in Buenos Aires, where she began her career as a model, actress in photostories, and television personality.
In 1958, Mabel Karr relocated to Spain to star in the film Las chicas de la Cruz Roja (1958),directed by Rafael J. Salvia, which catapulted the four female leads, including Conchita Velasco, Luz Márquez, Katia Loritz, and Mabel herself, to fame.
Following the film's success, Mabel Karr settled in Spain, where she worked under the direction of José María Forqué in the movie Un hecho violento (1959),followed by the romantic comedy El día de los enamorados (1959),which was a significant box office hit during that era.
In 1960, Mabel Karr married the renowned Spanish actor Fernando Rey, and throughout the 1970s, she secured a consistent career in Spanish cinema, exploring a diverse range of genres. She also pursued a career in theater, appearing in productions such as "Un paraguas bajo la lluvia" and "Un espíritu burlón," as well as television novellas.
In 1975, Mabel Karr retired from her acting career to focus on supporting her husband and family. However, after Fernando Rey's passing on March 9, 1994, Mabel Karr returned to her career in 1996.
