Biography

Lyudmila Cheshmedzhieva, a renowned Bulgarian opera singer and film actress, was born on June 12, 1941, in the village of Marino, which was then a separate entity from Dimitrovgrad.

In her high school days, she actively participated in various extracurricular activities, including singing in the school choir, performing ballet, and engaging in gymnastics, while also studying art speech.

She graduated from the Music Academy in Sofia, where she was part of the class taught by Hristo Brambarov, and went on to pursue a career in opera singing. Her professional debut came when Svetozar Donev invited her to participate in a production of the operetta "The Girl I Loved" at the Musical Theater.

Throughout her career, Lyudmila has starred in numerous productions, including "The Queen of Czardas" and "Hello, Dolly". As a student, she made her film debut in the movie "We Were Young", and continued to appear in films such as "The Peach Thief" (1964),"Children Play Outside" (1973),"The Assistant" (2002),and "The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner" (2008).

For many years, Lyudmila held the position of soloist at the Musical Theater, and in 1991, she became its Chief Manager. Her impressive career has earned her numerous prestigious awards.
