Lupita Tovar, a talented actress from Oaxaca, Mexico, began her career in silent Fox films, eventually transitioning to Universal Pictures and co-starring in the Spanish-language version of the 1930 film "The Cat Creeps", titled "La voluntad del muerto".
She then appeared alongside Helen Chandler's Mina as Eva Seward, the Spanish-language counterpart, in Universal's Spanish adaptation of "Dracula", released in 1931.
In 1932, Lupita married Paul Kohner, a Czech-born producer who would go on to become one of the most prominent agents in Hollywood. Their daughter, Susan Kohner, would later receive an Oscar nomination for her performance in Universal's 1959 film "Imitation of Life", while their son, Pancho Kohner, would become a successful producer.
Lupita Tovar would eventually retire from the film industry in the 1940s and has been a widow since 1988.
